Wind in our sails
"Wind in Our Sails" is a metaphor from a Greg Ogden line that says: “The Christian life is like a sailboat… As operator of the sailboat, we can steer the rudder, we can hoist the sails, but we cannot cause the wind to blow.” While we cannot produce more of God’s life in us by our own power, we can make ourselves available to His Spirit. One way Christians have done this through the centuries is by the spiritual disciplines. Some Christians use the disciplines in hopes of earning points with God; some fail to use them at all. The healthy approach is to use them as a means of availing ourselves to God's presence and power.
